Regen24 set to fire renewal

The Anglican Community of St Mark (ACM) is encouraging Anglican leadership teams to get fired up for the Gospel at its ‘Regen24’ conference that sets out to revitalise leadership, mission and discipleship across the nation.

The Anglican Community of St Mark has launched Regen24, a three-day burst of energising fuel for renewal to resource church leadership teams in their work growing disciples and building hope-filled churches.

“We really want to see the tide changing in this country and see churches have the confidence to work together to see New Zealand reached with the good news of Jesus.” said ACM Chair Rev Fraser McDermott today.

Fraser says this new conference is aimed at inspiring and equipping church members and leaders for an exciting mission future and renewing them too,

“It’s an excellent opportunity to take a step back, catch your breath and allow others to minister to you and bless your teams.”

The Regen24 conference will take place at St Margaret’s Hillsborough in Auckland, from Wednesday - Friday 8-10 May and features a line-up of international and local experts on church planting, mission and evangelism, working beyond denominational boundaries, university ministries, economics and Christian discipleship, community formation and youth leadership training.

Speakers coming to New Zealand to share their passion for the Gospel and wisdom from years in mission include:

Main speaker Rev Dr Andrew Katay who is Senior Minister of Christ Church Inner West, a multi-site Anglican Church in Sydney, Australia. Andrew is also CEO of ‘City to City Australia’, a church planting and leadership development agency linked to Tim Keller and Redeemer Presbyterian Church, New York. Dr Katay brings considerable experience in university campus ministries and serves on the Bishop-in-Council of the Diocese of Sydney.

“One way to read the history of the church for the last 30 years is as a series of fads - the 1990s were all about leadership - books, conferences, articles,” says Andrew.

“The 2000s were all about mission - missional communities, the missio dei and being a community on mission. The 2010s were all about discipleship - thick community, life on life, accountability.”
“Of course, as soon as you put it like that, one thing is obvious - they are all essential! We can’t trade these three core commitments off against one another.”

Speaker Canon Julie-anne Laird is a specialist consultant on Evangelism and Mission, Canon for Church Planting for the Diocese of Melbourne, and Melbourne North Catalyst for ‘City to City Australia’. For the last 20 years, she has worked with  Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES)  helping students reach out to the Uni Campus in Melbourne. She is the Chair of Lausanne Australia and has been a Victorian Coordinator for Arrow Leadership (Christian youth leadership training programme) for the last fourteen years.

Rev Dr Nathan McLellan is the CEO and a senior teaching fellow of the Venn Foundation. After studying economics and finance, he worked as an economist at the New Zealand Treasury and as a private consultant, before going overseas for theological study which culminated in his PhD in theological ethics. Nathan has an interest in Christian discipleship, community formation, leadership, and the relationship between economic life and the Christian faith. Nathan will be speaking on how churches can develop and empower a new generation of Christian leaders who are both passionate and well formed to lead mission and renewal.

“Join us for Regen 24, where we take a deep dive into a deeply gospel saturated vision for leadership, mission and discipleship.” – Andrew Katay
