Mission focus for Taonga magazine

The Spring issue of Taonga magazine spotlights mission at home and abroad, and gives a young adults' take on the political parties.

Taonga news  |  30 Aug 2014  |

The Winter 2014 issue of Taonga magazine is out.

This issue of Taonga magazine keeps mission in the spotlight for 2014 – drawing on our missionary history, finding hotspots in today’s mission and looking toward the future.

Our contributors talk about what’s changed since Marsden and Ruatara first shared the message at Oihi in 1814, what we still have to learn from those times, and we take a trip to mission hubs across our Pacific church.

Then we unpack some of the tough issues from May’s General Synod/Te Hinota Whanui: human sexuality and the church, the state of our bicultural partnerships and pulling back our impact on climate change.

It’s a brief nod to the upcoming NZ election with a young adults’ view of seven political parties and a word from our social service agencies on income inequality. Then there’s the regular round-up on care for creation, a touch of theology, kid’s church, books and film.
