This is a deeply meaningful position, integral to the spiritual life and special Anglican character of our school community.

We are seeking a dedicated Priest to join our vibrant Hamilton campus and guide the formation of confident, resourceful, and resilient young women.

The Role: A Priest who can uphold faith and lead worship

They will be charged with preserving and enhancing the special character education and spiritual wellbeing of the school. Reporting to the Principal, Proprietor’s Board, and the Bishop of Waikato, this role is about leading, encouraging, and providing empathetic Christian guidance to students, staff, and the wider WDSG family.

As well as being the school’s Priest - Chaplain the position includes the teaching of some Religious Education classes at 0.4FTTE teaching

 Key Accountabilities Include:

●        Spiritual Leadership: Develop and implement the vision for the Priest–Chaplaincy, ensuring it is reflected throughout the school culture.

●        Worship Life: Be responsible for the Order of Anglican Worship. Provide a regular Anglican pattern of public prayer and worship, including daily morning prayer, Holy Communion (at least once per term), and special celebrations (e.g., Founders’ Day, Ash Wednesday).

●        Pastoral Care: Provide Christian pastoral care and spiritual guidance to all members of the school family in conjunction with the school counsellors and management team.

●        Service & Ministry: Create a culture of sustainable voluntary service, managing key service events (like Easter Baskets and Dio Dinners) and relations with key service providers (e.g., Hospice Waikato, World Vision).

●        Teaching: Deliver the prescribed curriculum effectively and professionally, while acting as an effective professional role model reflecting the Special Character of the school.

 

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

●        Theological qualification and be an Ordained Anglican Priest.

●        Holding a current full teacher’s practising certificate, or eligibility to obtain one, would be desirable but is not essential. A Limited Authority to Teach (LAT) can be applied for if required.

●        Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.

●        Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
