A new bishop has been chosen for the Anglican Diocese of Temotu in Melanesia.
The election of the Rev George Takeli has also been endorsed by the Council of Bishops at Tete Ni Kolivuti on Guadalcanal.
The Bishop-elect the Rev Takeli, 49 hails from Ulawa, Makira Ulawa Province.
He has a Diploma of Theology with Honours from Bishop Patteson Theological College in Solomon Islands, a Bachelor of Theology with honours from Pacific Theological College in Suva Fiji and a Masters of Theology with honours from Auckland University in New Zealand.
The Rev Takeli is currently studying towards his Doctorate in Theology at the Pacific Theological College in Suva, Fiji.
He will be consecrated and installed as Bishop of Temotu in Lata, Temotu province, on 21 February 2010.
