Bishops launch quake appeal

The archbishops and bishops of this church have launched an appeal to help Christchurch in the aftermath of the February 22 earthquake.

General Synod Office  |  24 Feb 2011

The Archbishops and Bishops of the province have launched an appeal to help the Diocese of Christchurch and Te Hui Amorangi Te Waipounamu in their ministry, care and support to their people and parishes and communities affected by the 22 February Christchurch earthquake.

The Anglican Diocese of Wellington will be managing, on behalf of “the province”, the processing of all donations to this appeal.

All donations will qualify as a “charitable donation” and (provided the correct procedure  for making the donation is followed) then you will receive an acknowledgement of your donation, and the appropriate receipt, by mail.

Donations can be made in two ways:

By Cheque: Please make your cheque out to “Bishops Appeal” or “Bishops CHCH Appeal”

Post them to the “Bishops’ Emergency Appeal”, Anglican Centre, PO Box 12046, Wellington 6144.

Through your local Parish: The local parish will collect and receive donations from its parishioners

The local parish will issue you a receipt with their charities commission number on it and you can then claim the appropriate tax rebate.

The local parish will then, at the appropriate time, forward, all these donations, to the “Bishops’ Emergency Appeal”, Anglican Centre, PO Box 12046, Wellington 6144, for processing by the Anglican Diocese of Wellington.

By Internet Banking: These too will be processed by the Anglican Diocese of Wellington

The Diocese of Wellington will liaise with the Archbishops and General Secretary and the Bishops of the Diocese of Christchurch and Te Waipounamu to ensure these donations reach the coalface of need and will help people in the long process of rebuilding their lives, homes and communities.

We would be grateful if all Clergy would announce this appeal at their Sunday services and in parish newsletters in the following weeks.
