A message to the church from the Archbishops on the first anniversary of the February 22, 2011 Christchurch earthquake

To the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia,

I am sure we will all be thinking of our friends, relations, and those we know in Christchurch today.

This first anniversary of the February 22 earthquake is a time to assure all the people of Christchurch of our prayers and of our ongoing solidarity.

I know many of you will pause to pray during the day and to hold in your hearts the people who were so affected by the tragedy.

We continue to pray for the restoration and full recovery of this cathedral city.

Arohanui, in Christ.

Archbishop David Moxon – Senior Bishop of the New Zealand Dioceses

On behalf of:

Archbishop Brown Turei – Bishop of Aotearoa

Archbishop Winston Halapua – Bishop of Polynesia
