Newsroom has published a story investigating what writer Marc Daalder calls 'A Land Wars-shaped hole in the NZ psyche'.

The article scans the lack of history teaching on the subject of colonial violence in the 19th century which led to the confiscation of massive tracts of Maori land and whose political and social impact continues in the present day.

Hamilton-based Anglican high school St Paul's Collegiate history teacher Defyd Williams features in the long-read article here.
