Wellington & Auckland launch appeals

The bishops of Wellington and Auckland have launched appeals to assist the Diocese of Christchurch in its ministry to quake victims. The Archbishop of Canterbury has also sent a personal note of support to Bishop Victoria Matthews.

Wellington donations can be made to “Bishops Emergency Appeal”, Anglican Centre, PO Box 12046, Wellington 6144, or via local parishes who will forward the money to the Anglican Centre.

Cheques should be written out to “Diocese of Wellington – Bishop’s Emergency Appeal”. All donations will qualify as ‘Charitable Donations,’ and receipts and acknowledgement will be made.

Bishop Tom Brown and the Diocesan Administrator, Archdeacon Bernard Faull, are liaising with the Bishop of Christchurch, the Rt Rev Victoria Matthews, to ensure that such donations reach the coalface of need and assist people in what will be the long process of rebuilding their lives, homes and communities.

Archdeacon Faull also has called on all Wellington Anglicans to uphold the people of Canterbury in prayer.

Auckland donations may be made to "Bishop's Emergency Appeal", c/o Diocesan Office, PO Box 3742, Parnell, Auckland 1151 or via local parishes. Cheques should be made to "Diocese of Auckland Bishop's Emergency Appeal.
