Professor Kevin Clements has been appointed inaugural Director of the Peace Centre based at Otago University.

Professor Clements, a New Zealander, is currently Director of the Australian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies in Brisbane.

The centre was set up last year by the Aotearoa New Zealand Peace and Conflict Studies Trust, with government funding from Otago's Leading Thinkers project.

The Anglican General Synod/te Hinota Whanui has expressed support for an educational connection with the Peace Centre.
