KiwiSaver gets an ethical edge

Anglican Pension Board CEO Mark Wilcox talks with Rhema Media on how ethics can change investment.

Taonga News  |  19 Sep 2016  |

Kiwisaver providers recently found themselves caught in the cross hairs when stories surfaced about some KiwiSaver Schemes investing in manufacturers of cluster bombs, land mines and nuclear weapons.

That prompted Radio Rhema to interview Mark Wilcox, the General Manager of the NZ Anglican Church Pension Board, on the subject of ethical investment.

The Pension Board administers the Koinonia KiwiSaver Scheme, which is targeted at a Christian market, and is founded on ethical and responsible investment principles.

In this interview: koinonia.org.nz/misc/JPKiwiSaverEthicalInvestment.mp3 Mark discusses what makes Koinonia different from other KiwiSaver schemes, and what the Pension Board’s investment philosophy is.

He also talks about financial stewardship, the challenges of ethical investment and the importance of starting a savings plan early.

Mark speaks about fossil fuel divestment in the latest Anglican Taonga magazine.
